The Backstory

This is the third romance writing prompt in our series this month. Use this writing prompt to explore your character’s backstory.

Your protagonist was hurt in the past and does not trust easily. What happened, and how does your protagonist overcome it to find love?

The Lie

This is the second romance writing prompt for this month. Use it to write a scene or explore ways to cross over to another genre.

Your protagonist and love interest are brought together with a lie. At first it seems that it doesn’t matter, but then your protagonist develops feelings for the love interest. The lie now stands in the way of their happily-ever-after. What is the lie, and do they overcome it?

Second Chance

February is the month of love, so this month’s writing prompts will have a romantic theme. However, you can take your characters in any direction you wish. Let’s get started!

Your protagonist runs into an old flame at the local coffee shop. The old flame is back and working for your employer, and now you have to work together on a new project. Will they rekindle their romance? Or will their relationship go down in flames for a second time?

The Old Made New

Use the writing prompt below to inspire you.

You’re allowed to travel back in time to celebrate one year of your life again. You can’t change world events or other people, but you can change yourself, including your choices and behaviors. What year would you go to? Would you change anything, and if so, what would it be?
